Kids Carpentry Supplies has been supplying children all over New Zealand with wood for carpentry and craft projects since 2007.
Our wood is extremely popular with early childhood centres, primary schools and families to use at home.

All of our wood has been personally and carefully handpicked direct from the sawmill source to ensure a top quality product with a variety of sizes, shapes, and textures. This process ensures that the product you receive is safe.
Our craft wood is not recycled. It is brand new timber which ensures that it is free from any dangerous contaminants such as paint, treatment chemicals, broken and dangerous timber, or other nasties.
The Macrocarpa timber we use is grown locally in New Zealand. Macrocarpa is considered a "soft wood" which is the easiest kind for children to begin their carpentry journey with.
Our wood is compatible with all other craft materials commonly used such as PVA glue, hot glue, paint, dyes etc.
The wood off-cuts can be delivered to you in a large sack weighing approximately 13 kg. Each sack holds at least 100 pieces of wood so it is great value and will last for many projects.
Alternatively, our “Starter Pack Tool Set” includes 3.5kg of wood, a hammer, screwdrivers, nails and safety glasses. It would make a great gift for a new carpenter!

About us
Based on the beautiful Hibiscus Coast, north of Auckland, Kids Carpentry Supplies is a small New Zealand business owned and operated by Lisa McGlashan.

Growing up I always enjoyed making things out of wood and helping Dad with DIY projects at home. My Dad owned the local sawmill so there was always plenty of wood around for us kids to build and create with – it was something we took for granted.
Looking back now I have no doubt that those early years of being allowed to experiment with real tools and wood helped to shape who I am as an adult.
There is certainly something quite empowering that comes with knowing how to use tools, and it all stems from those basic skills I learnt as a kid.
It was through my love of woodwork and my interest in early childhood education that Kids Carpentry Supplies was born.
Woodwork provides so many unique learning and development experiences for young children. It encourages creative thinking, math skills, scientific investigation, physical development, coordination, builds self-esteem, confidence; the list goes on..
But not only that, it is an activity that children REALLY ENJOY doing!
It certainly comes as no surprise that carpentry is a recommended activity of the NZ early childhood education curriculum.
